I have 2x 1gb in this system, and I'm adding another 2x1gb before giving it to my father, because he does heavy music editing with protools and such. Do the second 2 gigs have to be the same type and/or speed as the first two to maintain good performance or as long as it is in matched pairs am I good? Rig is not o/c'd much

It is possible to get 2 memory kits that simply will not run together. Ideally, you need to get a 2 x 2GB kit or add a second 2 x 1GB kit of the EXACT same modules. When mixing memory, the only way to know if it will work is to install and test. You may be fine though.
