I've got a brand spanking new Q9650.

I'm running an ASUS Rampage Formula X48 mainboard, with some reasonable good Corsair Ram (DDR2 1066). Cooling with a Zalman 7700CU cooler.

So far I've made 3.8 GHz @ 1.25v, with no other major adjustments. The voltage was just a stab in the dark as the CPU has a very wide voltage range and the Mobo has an even wider one. Load Line Calibration is enabled, so I have a very stable CPU voltage. Prime95 stable puts me right around 70C. The tower has ~120 CFM of air flow. I have not pushed further yet, but will do so as I get time (I'm working 120 Hours a week right now). I was hoping to get to 4GHz+ territory, and I'm looking for some advice on voltages, freqs and temps.

I know that the HSF should probably be upgraded, I'll be getting a Thermalright TRUE eventually.

Water cooling is NOT an option.

Other details about the rig are in the sig.

70C is pretty high for u’r chip at 3.8 1.25 vcore, stock HSF could do 3.8 with those temps

my crappy cooler can hold the chip under 60 @ load, even @ 48 (I was freezing to death when I took this :D )

anyway I also got mine stable @ 3.6 with 1.25 vcore, lowered it to 1.225 and left P95 stressing at the moment

Code:
Load-Line Calibration.....................[ Enabled ]
CPU Vcore [ 1.25 ].............[ 1.25V ]
CPU Termination [ 1.20 ].............[ 1.20 ]
CPU PLL [ 1.50 ].............[ 1.50 ]
CPU Reference [ 0.760 ].............[ Auto ]

MCH Core [ 1.100 ].............[ 1.240 ]
MCH Reference [ 0.760 ].............[ 0.800 ]
MCH/DRAM Refernce [ 0.900 ].............[ 1.050 ]
ICH I/O [ 1.500 ].............[ 0.960 ]
ICH Core [ 1.100 ].............[ 1.100 ]

DRAM Voltage [1.8]...................[1.920]
DRAM Termination [0.9]...................[0.960]
Channel A Ref [0.9]...................[0.960]
Channel B Ref [0.9]...................[0.960]

I'm at work right now, so I can't check the VID but I will when I get the chance.

Thanks for sharing the settings. Looks like I have to be certain that I've got the cooler on good, and the maybe I can push further.

Doesn't the 9700NT use a 92mm fan? other than the GPU/PPUs I have nothing smaller than 120mm and would like to keep it that way.

I have a Q9650 and I've got mine running at 4Ghz stable. Here are my settings:

And my cooler is a Zalman 9700NT, it works great. I highly recommend it.

I was wondering about this, at low speed its super quite, but at highest speed it has this wired vibration sound coming from the fins, could it that mine has some fins too close to each other or something like this? or you are like someone I know ….. I can’t hear anything I can’t hear anything till I grabbed his head and stick it to the case :D

1.4 vcore!! I know each chip is different but I’ve seen u’r chip hits higher speeds with much lower vcore, even the Q9550 reached 4.0 at lower than 1.25

it's a E0 stepping.

I'm working on the temp monitoring before I start stressing it again. Setting my LCD for individual Cores.

what is the VID that I am looking for? (I've kinda been out of the CPU OCing game since I got my 560j running at 3.9 GHz.

Hi All, am new here and looking for some info regarding my machine, and im told here is the place to ask!

I have -
Rampage Formula mobo
Q9650 - @stock 3 GHz, cooled by (not this one but very similar) Thermalright Venomous, with a scythe S-Flex 120mm strapped to it.
8gb OCZ Gold ram (2.1v)
850 watt Galaxy Enermax PSU
2 GPU's.

Now would anyone be good enough to provide me with details on exactly what i need to change in my BIOS to OC my rig?
I have had a play with OC'ing before but now rarely get time and just want it to be done right first time.

It would be appreciated fellas!

Thanks
