So, I was doing some overclocking on my new processor yesterday, here are my settings.

On a P5N-D board

3.29G overclocking setting:
unlink,
Fsb=1600,
ram=387(775),
CPU voltage not change:auto or 1.28v,
NB voltage:1.24v,
HTvoltage:1.22v.
RAM 4-4-4-12

I kept blue screening and I can't figure out why. Any thoughts?

Its probably not your voltages but I always start with the max safe voltages and work my way down from there. then once you know the voltages you need you can begin to change other timing\ misc settings in the bios.

What type of memory are you running? Is it ddr2-800? I have the same CPU and I'm running a bus speed of 433mhz, memory matched to the bus speed. I think I have my voltage set to 1.35, could be wrong though. Memory is 5-5-5-15. Using a P5E.

My cpu's stepping is E0 btw, but you should be able to get way past 3.3 ghz with the q9550.

lower the vcore down to 1.20 and i suggest raising the mem voltage by a bit... and also what mobo do you have? set everything else to default. well at least this is what i did with my q9550 and i got it rock stable at 3.5ghz with 1.17 vcore

Strange that you would see BSOD on such a mild overclock. What error message are you seeing in the BSOD? Do you have your PCI speed explicitly set? I ask because it's possible your PCI speed is a little off and one of your cards doesn't like it.

My memory to 2.1v
I'm running This Memory I see that the timings are 4-4-4-15 not 12.

My q9550 needs a good voltage bump to the vcore to hold my 3.8 OC. I suggest you start increasing the vcore. (I had to start bumping it long before that though.)

For some reason I can't even slightly overclock this CPU. I had to reset to factory default to even get it to boot. What would you recommend I tweek first? Should I not even touch memory timings?

The memory timings might automatically change based on your bus speed, unless you've specifically modified the bus to memory speed ratio. Explore your bios settings more fully.

I'm running very stable at my current settings. Took me a long time to get to where I am. Upping the voltage was the only way to get anything more than 3.4 stable. I have my memory running 848 @ 2.1v and it's just purring away. I tried 3.8 but it wouldn't boot at the current voltages with that speed and I'm not putting 1.4 or 1.45v to the cpu it's not worth it to me. I'm tickled that I reached my goal of 3.6 and I couldn't be happier till I build a new Six Core system from the ground up early 2011. Take care and good luck.
