Q9550 safe temps???

ok so i just got my Q9550 3 days or so ago.

well first of all when i installed it i forgot to reset my BIOS settings and when it first booted up it ran with FSB 472x8 so it was at 3.722 GHZ (i think) it booted at bios and that was about it. it got stuck at the BIOS screen oh and my vcore was 1.34 anyways i just wanted to ask if this could have done any potential damage to my new chip and will this degrade the life span of my new 9550?

also when i was done resetting my BIOS i got this chip to 3.4ghz with 1.15 vcore OCCT stable with temps barely below 70 at FULL load. im using a stock intel HSF and paste BTW.
it idles at 45,45,40,40 just wanna ask if this is safe.

oh and BTW i want to keep this 9550 FOR A LOOOONG TIME (at least when those X58 mobos drop and those triple channel DDR3 reaches 50$ a kit ROFL)
 
TjMax is 100C, max voltage should be kept under 1.4v. So, no, your chip is fine.

mhmm ok oh and do you think i can hit 4ghz stable with this chip with a G31M ES2L??

its a mATX mobo with superb OC capabilty considering its old chipset architecture and such.
also what would be a good cooler out there since im planning to buy an after market heatsink tomorrow and thermal paste (xcept AS5 *i heard that after a long time like a 2 months or so if you dont replace it, it can permanentally glue your HSF and CPU together) idk if thats true or not.
 
What are you looking to spend on a cooler? For price the S-1283 (or if you want the one with the bolt through kit, the Dark Knight) is hard to beat, if you are looking for one of the best the TRUE is a good choice, however you will need to buy a fan for it, like an S-Flex or Gentle Typhoon.

As far as hitting 4GHz, the only way to know is to try. And no, you do not need to change out TIM often, only if your temps start getting high, it might have dried out but that would take a long ass time. And it will not glue the HS to the IHS of the CPU, don't listen to whoever told you that.
 
id probably spend $40 max for the HSF. im currently looking at the Cooler Master Hyper 212 its only for $22.99 at frys while at other places its priced at 39.99 i think its a good deal considering this aftermarket HSF does a decent job at cooling for a low price.

ill give AS5 a shot i heard its quite a pain to apply though also i would like a non conductive thermal paste since i tend get some thermal paste here and there sometimes. lol. any recomendations for non conductive thermal paste thats as good as AS5?
 
I have no experience with the CM cooler, but it's your choice. As far as TIM goes, I like T-C Grease 0098. They also have a new one out, called Matrix II, but you can only get it from their site so far I believe, and I have no idea how it compares with their other TIM.
