Well I finally got my new replacement chip as the other chip it had stuck sensors. I did did a quick Prime test and my temps were as follow:
46 48 46 47


Idle temps are as follow:
36 39 36 37

Are these normal for a water cool system? I haven't let the Artic 5 cure yet so I dont' know what it would drop and my system still got a lot of air trapped in the system.
 
Your floor seems to be about where mine was, but it should be lower since you're running water.

Also, your peak temp is about 3C lower than mine so i hope that helps you a bit. Doesnt seem like your water is doing much tbh.
 
Yeah, what I thought. I might have to remount the block again since the other chip my idle temp was 32
 
Greets, I'm running a Q8450 as well on air at 3200.

At load via Prime95 I'm getting 56 58 54 55

At idle I'm seeing 38 42 37 37

Ambient room temp is 25.5

I'm running it on a IP35 Pro with a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, AS5 for lube and a vcore of 1.15.

Had it up to 3800 but it was hurting so I'm just going to stick with the above for now, its fast enough and cool.
 
wankelguy13b...how did you go about exchanging your chip? I also have one that has stuck sensors but intel claims that as long as none of the cores are over 71c then its within Intel specs and they wont do anything about it... :(
 
ok so with RealTemp I get up to 61 61 62 62 (occr/prime95). I'm running at 450x8 @ 1.30v real. I guess this is good. Need to dial in those settings now.
 
Not bad. I haven't overclocked it yet since my temps are a bit high on idle for a water cooled system. Going to try to reset the waterblock or it could be that I have my video cards in the same loop. WIll figure it out this weekend.
 
Well my first overclock on this chip or even that, using an Intel CPU. Overclocks so much easier than an AMD chip. Here are my temps:

I keep having problems when I try to fire up REAL TEMP. Keeps telling me a dll is missing and to re-install.

UPDATE:

Looks like my max temps on Real Temp are up to 60c during load.

Idle it looks like it just hovers around 43-43c.


I think 3.4 at 1.3v is where I have to stop with the CPU OC.

Did you try to download it again? You have to keep all the files that comes with it in the same folder.

I tried to go to 3.4 but couldn't get it stable at 1.25V, didn't want to go higher just yet as I don't know much about intel chips. Core #2 kept crapping out on prime. I upped the voltage up a little but sitll crapping out. I have to read up on overclocking Intel chips. Anyone got a good link for overclocking intel chips or can someone give me hints on what to change to make it stable? My setup is on my sig.

So I'm stable at 3.4 with 1.3v.

I don't want to go above 1.3v at this point. That's also 1.3v in BIOS. When I see the CPUID and other diags it shows a much lower voltage (~1.2+), so I'm happy with the 1.3v I have set in BIOS right now.

Right now I'm trying to OC my not so stellar memory (I went for the bargain, and well...you get what you pay for).

Sometime this weekend, I'm probably going to pop in my other Q9450 chip and see if it performs any better.

Thanks, I will try 1.3v on the bios and I also got that other chip which I have to return for RMA since it has stuck sensors. If it overclocks better, hell with the stuck sensors as long as it doesn't lock up my computer I'll keep it.

hahah sounds like a sound decision ;)

Good luck with the 1.3v. I think you can easily hit 3.4 and more with your board and chip.

So many people in the forums are doing way better than me :p
 
Update on the Overclocking as I got it to 3.4 with only 1.264V through which is pretty good I guess since I dont' know much about this chip or even that, Intel chips. Might try to go down on the voltage later.
