Is the upgrade worth it? That is at $170.

Or benches that compare the two. I know it's old data :) But I'm not in the market for a full up computer for another 3 years.
 
I would buy the Q9550 and sell your Q6600. You should command between $100 and $140 for the Q6600 used.

The problem is that pretty much everyone overclocks their Q6600. If you're not overclocking it, it's not worth it, since the default speed is only 2.4Ghz. Now they are great overclockers so this isn't really an issue, but when your looking up benchmarks, keep in mind that most of those are not run with the chip overclocked and it will look really slow.

Sell the q6600 and buy the q9550. In the end you should only have to pay $30~40 to make up the difference which I think is worth it. If you ever sell your PC off it would hold a much higher value.
