Newegg has both the Q6600 and Q8200 at the same price. Now, I know it isn't always that the bigger model number is better, and I see that there are differences in FSB and such. I've been out of the rig building game for quite some time, so I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on this.

So far, I was persuaded on the AMD forum to go for Intel. I'm taking baby steps :p
(and I'm finding Intel mobos to be quite a bit more expensive than AMD)

The Q8200 has better performance per clock, but less cache. In terms of overclocking, the Q6600 will do a little better due to its higher multiplier. Overall, I'd favour the Q6600 because of overclocking, but if you'll be keeping things stock, then the choice would depend on what you plan on doing with your computer.

Also, Intel is supposedly dropping prices soon, so you might want to wait a few weeks and then pick up a Q9400 for a bit more money if you're willing to spend a little more.

This will be a gaming PC, forgot to mention. And I'd like to get the best nonoverclocked bang for the buck.
