Q6600 vs e6750, practical power consumption difference?

Having trouble finding direct comparisons for the two.

Basically I have a secondary computer that is only used for rather light tasks -

- web browsing
- watching videos
- light office type tasks (documents)
- very light graphics work
- light "ghetto" server in the background on a separate user account

The computer has been using a e6750 at stock however I've recently gotten a Q6600 G0 for free. What would be the raise in power usage swapping that in? Performance difference is not really significant given the usage scenario (I actually personally don't use that computer much at all).
 
The power difference wouldn't be very large, TDP on those two processors isn't vastly different. However, for thumbing around and multitasking (which it sounds like you'll be doing) quadcore will be the way to go. Plus a G0 will hit 3.6Ghz pretty easily with a good aftermarket cooler on a decent board. If you're worried about power consumption, doubt you'll OC... but the extra cores are damn nice to have.
 
All in all, I'd say the added performance of keeping the machine doing what it does and making you happy longer will likely far outweigh the small energy difference costs in the long run. You will also likely find a slight OC will make things even better with minimal effort. Max out the RAM in that MB if you haven't already and enjoy.
 
pin mod (BSEL / tape mod) it and call it a day (will bring it up to 3GHz). minimal increase in power consumption.
