Q6600/TRUE Lapping

I've never lapped any hardware before.

I'm not doing this as a luxury, but more as a necessity. With my current setup my Q6600 is idling 45C at 1.237v (8x400), load temps actually reach 70C in Prime95. I now realize I'll probably have this processor for a while (Since LGA 775 is dead), so I want to go ahead and prepare it for the long run.

Just a few quick questions.

1. Is this a good procedure?

2. I know what dry lapping is, but what is "wet" lapping? Do I just dampen the sandpaper with some water? Is wet lapping safer or better than dry?

3. What grit should I stop at with the processor and TRUE? 1000 grit for both?
 
In my experience, having the sandpaper be wet lets it last longer, basically it doesnt fill up with metal dust as fast, but its not nessecary. It also acts as a lubricant, and also prevents the dust from going everywhere. The video is pretty good for a guide, although you dont need to really go higher than 800-1000. Just needs to be flat.
