Hey folks... just how loud is it, compared to say... a Panaflo M1A @ full / half / low speed on a Vantec Nexus fan controller?

Going to be getting one, and wondering if I will require a new waterblock for the CPU due to noise, or if air will do.

Thanks.

I found it to be pretty loud, and not really that effective.

Replaced with a Tuniq tower, 12C drop at idle, 20C drop at 100% load.

Replace it.

My Xeon X3220 came with the same HSF as my E6320. In other words, no way in hell it will handle the heat dump if you OC.

Huh ?? I had compared both heatsinks from a E4300 and Q6600 and the copper core and fins seems bigger. However, I agree it's still a POS.

I'm not too concerned about temps, as long as they are decent. I'm more concerned about noise to be honest.

Regardless, it sounds, no pun intenended, that it needs replacment.

Oddly enough, I thought it wasn't that bad till it spooled up under load..then it sounded like an airplane taking off.

You're more concerned about the noise than the temp? Man, you sound nut.

Not conerned about the temp because I dont plan to OC until the system needs it.

I went watercooling to avoid 6800gt stock cooling twin tiny fan noise from hell... there werent arctic cooling NVsilencers at the time, i beleive... or i didnt know about em.

Anyhow, the cost of the thermalright is the same as a new waterblock, so i might aswell use that route.

ALthough, i did have a thermalright XP-120 (since gave that to my brother) and man did that thing cool well. Holy crap. Awesome product.
