ok this is a pretty n00bish question but whats the difference between the GO and SLCR versions? how do you tell? (yes i realize it most likely says on the proc itself)
 
G0 is the same thing as SLACR. G0 is the stepping of the CPU, steppings are revisions to the processor that improve its performance. By looking at the serial number on the box, if it ends in SLACR, the q6600 is a G0 stepping. If the serial ends in SL9UM it is a B3 stepping. B3 is the predecessor of G0 and tends to run hotter and has a maximum rated temperature of 60C compared to the G0's 71C.
 
Isn't it G0 (zero) and not GO? Anyway, I just got a Noctua NH-U12P hsf in the mail today for my q6600 G0, booted up at 1333fsb and am sitting stable @ 3.0Ghz, stock voltage. I'm going to try to push it tomorrow, but talk about an easy OC! You can also look at the top of the processor itself if you no longer have the box, or fire up CPU-Z. In CPU-Z it's listed under Revision: G0. My load temps are currently 44-48ºC under load (Folding dual smp's for the [H]orde!)

Your temp is in normal range, so be happy with your o/c :p

I agree about ease of OCing the Q6600. I went from an Opteron 170 on an Asus A8N32-SLI motherboard, which was a nightmare to OC. (Too much fine tuning required.) I got my Q6600 G0, plugged it into my EVGA 780i, set the RAM to SLI, Link, & Sync; Kicked the FSB to 400x9; BAM! 3.6GHz prime95, 3dmark05/06, memtest Stable! 1st try.

Never looked back since.

So what voltages did you use to get that 3.6 and what temps are you getting at full load?
