Hey, i'm looking to pick up a Quad core. Probably a Q6600. Any idea when the prices will drop on them or where I can get a good one for a nicer price?

Also, I have the Gigabyte P35-DS3L. Will a Q6600 work in it right out of the box or will I have to do a BIOS update or something?

Thank you.

They can be regularly found for $180-220. Right now PC Club carries them for $219 out the door, Fry's regularly sells them for $199, in stores or online. Not sure how cheap you want them to get, but in terms of cost vs performance at this point, there simply isn't a better deal out there even at the $180-220 price range.

Where can you get them for $180? $199 (+ shipping) is what i'm seeing.

What stepping should it be since I plan to OC it?
Do most places sell that stepping?

Nearly all Q6600's sold now are G0 stepping, which is the better one for OC so you should be fine.
