Q6600 posting problems

Hey everyone, I just got a new mobo, the DFI P35 LP Dk, and my Q6600 does not seem to be posting. When I turn it on everything goes, cept there are no beeps or sound at all indicating that the processor is going. Am I just being foolish and there is an obvious answer, or if my CPU simply dead? I used this same cpu with my last mobo and it was fine. Please let me know.
 
It's possible that it's the mobo...do you still have your last mobo that you can test the cpu in?
 
Try running with just the mobo and CPU, pull the memory and any other things that may be plugged in.

It should at least make the no memory beeps.

If that does not help, try pulling the bios battery out for a full minute and giving it one more try.

If that doesn't do it, it is either the MOBO or the CPU. The only way to tell is to swap them with known working parts.

Alright, I tried both your suggestions to no avail. Is there any way to check without mixing and matching? because I dont have any other mobo that can use my Q6600.
 
do you know anyone with a 775 proc you could have come over and put it in and see if it boots.
 
well thats what Im trying to figure out now...because I really don't want it to be my proccesor thats bad since I don't have a warranty on it.

Did you buy it non-retail? Tisk tisk...

Hmm Make sure the Power Supply cables are connected correctly and not backwards. I did that at first.. well the little strip that turns on the PC, you know? Connects the button to the Motherboard..

Ya, that's vague.. but maybe you get it.
 
No I bought it retail, just overclocked it. Hmmm I guess I could check that, but everything else is going, so I doubt it
