Q6600 Overclock help.

My friend just got a Q6600 G0, and he has the Asus P45 SE/R Motherboard with Patriot ddr2 800 ram.

The timing is 5-5-5-12 for the RAM. Stock Voltage is 2.0
The VID on the Q6600 is 1.275.

He wants to know if there is a program to overclock it to 3.6ghz or what are your recommended settings to hit 3.6ghz in bios.

I would set your vcore to to 1.6 - 1.7 and just ramp up the FSB as far as it goes you'll prob wanna start with a 650+ mhz fsb and go from there.

If you want a program to overclock it for you I'd suggest the EVGA tuning software or catalyst control center. Both of those should be able overclock that Q6600 to atleast 4ghz.

I would NOT set your vcore to 1.6 or 1.7. That is certain doom for a chip that has a voltage limit of 1.5 volts. And 650 FSB? Hehe.....*sigh*

To the OP, read the sticky at the top of this forum for C2D/C2Q Overclocking. Read it thoroughly. It's a good start in the right direction if you want to hit 3.6Ghz.

try 3.2ghz first. set vcore to 1.3v, fsb to 400, multi to 8. stress test then go from there.

One that's worth a damn? No.

Read the guide and do it manually. That's your best bet. If you can't do that then I don't think anyone here can help you.
