Q6600 Mobo

Hi guys

I'm considering buying a Q6600, and I'm looking for a board that'll let me OC it. I'm not bothered about on-board gfx and sound as I'll be getting those seperate.

Any suggestions?

Since I own a quad, I personally went with a 680i LT. Good chipset and it lets me overclock my quad past 400 FSB. Plus, it has SLi capabilities. I happen to own the XFX version although the eVGA and BFG 680i LT's are all the same board..

I am sure you could find these boards even cheaper if you just looked around a little. I bought my XFX 680i LT board about 6 months ago and after rebate, it was $129.

You haven't told us whether you use Crossfire, SLI, or a single card configuration. If you are using Crossfire or single, the P35 board is the best bet, as it is the best overclocking board on the market. If you have SLI, then you have no choice but to go for either the 680i LT or 680i boards. EVGA boards are the most popular choice.

If I had wanted SLI, I would have gone for the MSI P6N SLI/Platinum. I was very happy with my MSI K8N SLI/Platinum when I had an AMD Athlon64 X2, and I'd trust MSI (or Gigabyte/Abit/ASUS) more than the graphics card makers (or nVidia itself really) to design a good motherbaord.

I didn't, though, so I went with the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R, and have been very happy with it so far, albeit with a E6850 rather than a Q6600.
