Hmmmm....I remember when i got the processor about 4 months ago, and it's still chugging along at 3.2ghz...doesn't whine or complain either when I bump it to 3.6 or even 3.8ghz on air. I remember getting this processor at tigerdirect, it was the oem version. I believe I paid $220 for it or so on sale. Is it me or is there never going to be a worthy upgrade from this processor? I mean we all know that beyond 3.2ghz in games...it's the GPU that is bottlenecking performance. It just seems to me that this is the best bottom line desktop cpu out there. :D

Edit: Just looked at the invoice and I've had it for 7 months now.

Eventually, it'll show it's age, but I love mine right now and it really was/is an incredible value for the money.

Umm of course there will be? Time doesn't stop, innovation doesn't cease. Maybe if you're dead.

At under $200, it deserves a place in the CPU hall of fame. It really was the mass-market, performance quad core chip that also overclocks well for the geeks.

Point taken; the q6600 is a VERY good chip. But eventually everything will get faster and more powerful cpus will be needed. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious.

I don't even overclock mine - it'll do 3.0 easy, 3.2 easier  and 3.6 with a lot of volts, but it does everything fast enough at 2.4 that I usually don't bother with the extra power and heat that an overclock would require. Great chip, got my first for $300 with the first price drop, got my second two for around $200 each. Great value at $300, incredible for $200. But there will always be another overperformer.

<3 my Q6600 Club!

I got it on blackfriday last year at frys, $200 with a crap ecs mobo. Still going strong @3.2 today. I could do 3.6, but don't need to because its already fast enough at 3.2, and i don't have to raise the volts either. The jump to 3.6 required too many volts for my liking, but it still ran smoooooooth.

I have a QX6700(the original Quad!), running at stock 2.66 Ghz,

As a gamer only, i have no plans to go Core i7(Nehalem), there aren't even close to a huge jump for us gamers.

The Q9550 is a much better deal, imo. Especially for people who do more than just play games.

Q6600 is still the best bang for the buck, IMO. They can be had for under $200 now. That's some serious price : performance.

I don't plan on upgrading my Q for another years or two.

I love my Q6600. When I first got it I wondered how much I'd actually make use of 4 cores, now that I've had it for several months, I'm really glad I decided on a quad.

everyone that is running it at 3.2GHz.. whats your guys settings... 400fsb x 8 multiplier

Best. chip. ever.

I venture to say that it's even better than the AMD XP 2500+ Mobile in terms of how awesome it is.

I dono, there's just something about my E8600 running at 4.4GHz on air rock stable that makes me giddy. I don't use any multithreaded apps on my main box, so the sheer clock speed is awesome. And what's another $70?

I do agree though - got an OC'd Q6600 in my work PC and it's a beast when I've got 30+ Winders open, all running crap. Looking forward to i7 for THAT box.

I've had a Q6600 for a year or about now, and really havent had the itch to upgrade it. Had it at 3.0Ghz for a while, and then Picked up the Antec 900 and with the added cooling OC'ed it to 3.33Ghz with little worry. It is a little wonder of a processor.

Well guys the Q6600 is my first intel chip since the days of the 468 DX2 50 LOL , seriuosly it was all AMD upto the purchase of the Q6600 which runs at 3.2GHZ on Stock voltage, And i agree i think its the best performance per dollar ratio ever in my mind. I cant wait to upgrade in the future but i still dont have a reason to yet. :D

It's a kickass CPU with a great price/preformance ratio, it's like when the 8800GT came out.

for the life of me, i can't get my q6600 past 8x400 or 9x333...

this is with an asus p5k-e wifi
ocz 4x1gb 800 ram
danger dan water cooling

I am a little biased as to how kickass this processor is due to my upgrade path:

Q6600
^
Athlon XP 2800+
^
Dual P3 560
^
K6-2 350

It has nearly stopped me upgrading for a few years - I really have no need to replace it now, maybe in 2011 when 32nm comes out, maybe?

with a q6600, that is a lot of power and doesn't need upgrading for a while.. get a fusion io drive, that will make your cpu work a little more :)

It's just plain BADASSSSSSSS.

440 x 8 = 3.52 all day all night since I bought it from ClubIT (RIP):eek::eek:

I got an X3210 (B3), then leaped to the Q6700 G0. Not significant diff for me, but the Q6700 was actually cheaper!

I don't think any of the recent Q6600 chips are anything to really be happy about.

Replace everything you said with the pertinent info for the Celeron 300A, and welcome to what people were saying 10 years ago. In other words, things will keep evolving just like they have been. Your Q6600 G0 will become obsolete.

same problem here...i cant get mine past 9x333 and it wont post at 8x400 even more upsetting this is at 1.325v when i see people doing 3.6 with 1.4v. i cry at night

I have 2x Celeron 366 (with L2 cache) on a dual celeron board, the BP6. Of course, it's just sitting in a box, but I still have it... ;)

Right now I got my Q6600 g0 at 3.2GHZ @ 1.28 volts. I haven't tried a lower voltage.

well to do 400 your going to need ddr 800 ram, you have 677

I've had my Q6600 (vid 1.3125) for about a week, and I must say I am very impressed. I have mine humming along nicely at 3.6 with 1.45v. Paired with my 4870 x2, it rapes everything I throw at it, including Crysis.

This chip has shown its resilience since it first appeared almost 2 years ago. It should be up there as one of the hall of fame cpu's due to its performance/price ratio.

Yeah, that chip will go down with some of the classics like the old P2 300MHz that was just a 450MHz in disguise, followed by the 2.4GHz P4s that hit a minimum 3.2GHz on stock cooling/voltage.
