Currently I have my Q6600 build with 680i evga running about 70-73c using prime95 25.6 (so 4 instances going)

real temp reports my temps at 70-73c. prime95 is running small fft's.

when i run a blend i get a max temp of around 55-60c. is this normal for it to be so much higher using small fft's instead of a blend?

i'm asking because i plan to run seti on my quad and i think it performs closer to a blend test in prime95 instead of the small fft test in prime95. 70-73c temps are just too high to run seti all day ;). thoughts? :)

yes its normal. small ffts stress the cpu more but then youre never going to stress it as much as small ffts in normal use.

Monitor temps while you're actually running SETI and find out.

oh i will :)

now that prime95 has been running for 9 hours now (will let it go for at least 12) how long should i run prime95 as i ease up on the voltage? per every voltage drop how long should i let prime95 run? 2 hours per drop??

well so far so good :)

currently trying to find a lower vcore temp for the speed. i may need better cooling as well lol :D vid is 1.2625. currently testning 1.465 for stability.

RealTemp is showing the same temps as CoreTemp? On a Q6600?
That's not right. It should be a 5C difference.

Your Tjmax in both programs is listed as 95C or 100C?

I get 58C on large ffts and 65 on small. So i guess they do stress the cpu more.
