What's a good spec of ram to run with a Q6600?

Since ram is about to begin to rise due to lesser production I'm looking for RAM in anticipation of a Quad after teh price cuts.

Some of you need to lighten' up around here, to many forum Nazi's that get their feelings hurt.

It is a ram question related to an Intel CPU, it belongs here just as much as it belong in the RAM forum.
I have Ballistix right now, I was never impressed with them and will not purchase them again.
Since I haven't been in the market for a new system for awhile, I haven't kept up on what the C2Ds like, so the question still stands.
 
Yesterday there was a news item on the front page stating that RAM manufacturers were cutting production because prices were so low. Supply and demand suggests that there may be a rise in prices as a result. I just ordered another 2 gigs of memory just in case.

I've had a lot of luck with G.Skill recently. (Plus you get the comic relief of a box that states "Great skill in memory world.") I have 2 gigs of G.Skill DDR2 800 in my Q6600 box right now, and performance is great. I'm upping it to 4 because I noticed that during big compile jobs (make -j8) memory was the limit and not CPU power, and with prices this low, it certainly can't hurt.

Do you guys see how easy that was for RCGoward to share information instead of responding with another useless wrong forum post?

My Ballistix are old, 2x1GB DDR500, they won't hardly OC or run with tighter timings at all.
It is true that i got what I payed for, but there is no room on them for anything else, so I am sure I will go a different way at upgrade time.
 
see im vouching for pc8500 since i spend mroe time on xtreme. And there are not useles threads being posted. every 2 seconds of the same thing.

Anyways. I vouch for Pc8500 Crucial Ballistix.
 
As the OP, I asked here for a reason. And I was aware of the slowing by ram makers in order to boost prices. Again, why I asked here.

There's lots of deals on DDR2 right now for whatever reason, and those deals will be going away soon.

The manu's are actually suggesting that there may be a bit of falling left before we hit bottom, but then prices will surely go on the rise thanks to the low production numbers.

And if you guys can't post without calling each other names like a 12 year old, then please don't. If you wish to persist then you could lose your posting rights.
