Everything I have been reading and I hope I understand it right now with Q6600 and DDR2 is that it is best to have it in a 1:1 sync for the fastest to operate.
My question is simple, is it really worth getting DDR2-800 for the quad? I plan to OC it but inorder to get 1:1 that means I would either have to up my cpu to a 3.6Ghz or downgrade my ram a slower speed. Which I guess would mean it would be smarter to buy say DDR2-667 and just hover around 3Ghz instead of 3.6Ghz?

DDR2 is cheap as hell right now, why not get yourself a nice kit?

Agreed. It is all so cheap right now you probably won't save much to go with the 667 vs. the 800.

Heck, going from 800 to 1000(with the same timings :D ) in my case it was 'only' $15 last late december :)

If you are not OCing there is no need to downclock your memory. If you run everything box stock you should see the CPU at stock and the memory at DDR800 anyway. Do you intend to OC in the future?
