q6600 - 44C idle

hi,

my q6600 temp is around 44C...

even when I play Stalker (max resolution/details @ 1900x1200), the temp won't exceed 50C....

is that normal?

It's a little high, but the load temp is all that really matters. Test your load temp in a program like prime95 and see how high it goes. Are you using the stock heatsink?
 
If you were to run 4 instances of Prime or Orthos, you'd hit 70 pretty quick. That's how it was for me with the same cooler.

four instances each (total of 8) running at the same time?

Get the latest Prime95. One instance of it will have all four cores going. Run the Small FFT test...you'll see way over 50°c.

Not 8, I guess I should have worded it: Use Prime 95 version 25.3 where you only need to click once to open it, and all 4 cores will be used. If using Orthos, you will need to open it twice, with each in it's separate directory.
