PX200s for iPod?

I currently am using HD457s for my iPod, and they're just way too big to carry around. I like them, but they just aren't portable. I want to get some headphones that are more compact and in the $50 range (more $ is ok, but I'd prefer to stay right around $50). I wanted closed headphones, so I was looking at the PX200s, but from what I read around here, the bass is a bit muddy.

Any recommendations?

PX200=Muddy compared to what?

They can be a little boomy and sometimes they can be muddy but they also have a nice balance and presentation which can't be said for a lot of the other cans in the same price range.

According to some other threads, they have muddy bass compared to the PX100s

Yup that is true ... but that is usually the case with an open Vs closed headphone comparison.

I have the PX100s and they're great. I prefer open headphones than a closed setup. The PX200 seal isn't very good imo.

IMO the PX100s are your best bet unless you really need sealed cans. You've actually been walking around in public with 457s? I wore some 497s one night at work (custodian ) and got a lot of strange stares, so I went out and bought a cheap pair of Sony streetstyles cause they were all I could afford at the time

Well, I generally use them on the bus ride to school, and I generally don't hear much noise with them on, but there are times I've found that I might want a more closed headphone. But, it seems as if it isn't really worth it to get the PX200s because the sound quality isn't like that of the 100s. I wish there was a way to test them out--anyone know of a store that will let you try out headphones?
