i just bought and installed a brand new Hauppauge wintv pvr500. the problem is that there seems to be no drivers for windows xp pro. when i bought it from newegg it said it was compatible with all windows xp edition. but now that i have it, it seems to only be able to work with Media Center Edition. Is there anyplace i can get drivers for it for windows xp pro??

easier to read
1. new pvr500
2. need drivers for windows xp (not MCE)
3. need 3rd party video client for cheap or for free

have you tried the MCE drivers? MCE is really just XP with a PVR app. as for a free/cheap PVR, try mediaportal. if you want to spend money, trust me and buck up and get sage.

Im using the ones off the hauppauge web site. I just went in to device manager uninstalled the "unknown video device" (I forget what xp thought it was) and had it rescan for new devices. When it asked for drivers I pointed it to the ones I downloaded from hauppauge. It has worked fine since and I just got in my second PVR500 card last night since everthing works great on the 500 so far.
