Put the new card through the paces

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a BFG 6800 OC (nu version), and I'm wondering how to put it through the paces and make sure it's performing up to snuff. Any links would be really helpful.

well run some benchmark on it. people like to run 3dmark 03, or 01. then run some in game benches from like doom3 if you go it. then just start playing with it. take your settings u used on your old card and start turning thing up. with these new cards its pointless not to enable some sort of AA and AF in every game.

Hmm. Well, I got 9002 on 3Dmark03. Is that about par for my card?

The rest of my system:
AMD 64 3200+ (754)
KV8 deluxe mobo (non updated)
512 Corsair DDR 2.5 CAS (I think 3200, whatever the maximum my board can handle)


Seemed a little low. Thoughts?

its a bit low but might want to make sure aa and af arn't on (force them off in the control panel) and did ya use driver cleaner to remove old drivers?

I didn't force AA and AF off, and the old driver is the same as the new one. I upgraded from a Geforce MX 420, so it would be the same driver, right?

I'm going to test it again with AA and AF off.

really should reisntall your drivers too just incase, not sure if the gf4 mx uses the same driver sets (the Unified driver sets are just many drivers in one file)

Oh sorry Derrick was thinking it was a GT, yeah thats a really good 3dmarks, regular nu's get around 8k

Ok, thanks rancor for all the help. I did use driver cleaner, and actually got no difference between shutting down AA and AF at 1024 res.
