push-pull or just push?

hey [h],

quick question...would i gain a noticable improvement if i add another fan to my rad? i currently have 1 fan pushing air into the rad and getting temps around 42c idle / 52c full load.
but by adding another fan that's pulling from the rad make a significant improvement? or should i just let it be and maybe pick up a longer rad like the blackice GTX

Damn I still remember your Super Lanboy setup from in the WC Gallery :)

If you do push/pull with two fans, I think your temps would only benefit 1-4C max.
 
Lol yea its been a while since I visited that thread and not much has changed since as far as my pc goes.just a new 4850.

As far as the rad question, I was affraid of that. I'm thinking I should just pick up a new rad and see where that takes me.

You'll benefit more with a 2x120 rad with two 120mm fans then a push/pull config on that single fan rad. I'm willing to bet you are dumping a lot of heat back into your loop that the rad cannot dissipate (not enough surface area).

Martin over at XSS forums is doing a study of Push Pull setups on different rads to see what the true payoff is. You might check it out once they are done with the vBulletin forum updates later today.
 
For me, pull was better because of less noise.
I wanted watercooling to lower the noise and do some mild OCing. When I set it to push or push/pull there is alot more noise than pull. I really didn't notice much of a temp difference between any of those setups.
To me your temps seem fine anyway so I wouldn't worry too much.
