Anyone here have experience of the Stealth? I believe it's the same as the Talent, but smaller, although still large enough for my needs. Are they really as good as the hype? Much better than the steelseries qck or about the same? I currently use a steelseries mini qck which I love but it's pretty small. I'm looking to replace it with a bigger mat, so I've considered the qck standard size, the razer goliathus, and just recently the puretrak stealth. After just a few weeks I can already sense mild wear on the surface of my qck. I think it's gone a bit shiny and I can hear the mouse more now, whereas it's still silent near the edges. Puretrak are meant to be the best clothpads for accuracy as the company specialise in mousepads and nothing else. But also, I understand they last a LOT longer than other pads, like years, and can also be washed with no sacrifice to performance. I wonder it they really are super durable? These can only be bought from europe, USA and asia, and I'm in the UK. Is it worth me spending the 20 euros for the pad and about 17 euros shipping, or would something else be as durable and as good on performance? I think I read that even the razer goliathus wears down pretty fast too.
The one real thing I would miss about not using a steelseries qck anymore is how thin it is, which I'm fond of.
 
I don't know much about the stealth

However I do own the Puretrak Talent, and I can't say that I really enjoy it myself... I find the surface to be both smooth and hard (slightly lumpy, but not very noticeable), but it doesn't really have a very cloth like feel that I like...

I can say that I really don't notice any wear on the pad and I've used it for a month and a half or so by now. But I would probably aim for the QCK or perhaps the Ozone Ground Level myself.

I'm going to get one as soon as I put my Galant together, as I just don't have room for that big of a pad right now but I do want a nice thick cloth pad that's durable and tracks well, and the Talent seems to fit the bill perfectly.

I do like the design of that Ozone Ground Level pad though. Hadn't heard of it until this thread, actually. I think I'll try and dig up some info on it.

siluro, interesting. So you're not too keen on puretrak. Hmm, not sure what to do right now.
Now I'm also considering the roccat soca which is a hybrid soft and hard mat. But I've read of to people where there were heat issues which ruined it, and someone else who said it started curling up at the edges. Know anything about the sota? It sure looks nice in blue, is big, and only 3mm thick which is good.
 
Well the reason I don't like the Puretrak talent is because it doesn't have that natural cloth feel... I prefer the 'cheaper' mouse pads like the Allsop for example because of the soft cloth feeling, where the Talent doesn't have that and it's just flat, and not so squishy/cloth-like surface. The reason I'm so picky about this is because I like to rest my entire arm on the mouse pad itself so more-so the having a good surface my my mouse, it's a comfort thing for my arm. For that reason I would NEVER go with a plastic mouse pad like the Sota since I'm sure it wouldn't have a good feeling against my arm. The only other hard surface I would consider is a glass mouse pad without corners that dug into my wrist.

I'm not sure if you saw the pictures in the other thread with my Talent, but what I do is I have the mouse pad hanging over the edge of my desk (more than in the pictures) so that it covers the corners of the desk as well..)
 
I personally like my Talent, but I haven't compared it to other cloth pads.

Yeah I did see your pics, that Talent is HUGE :D It's the polar opposite of my mini qck which you can see in the same thread. So the puretrak stealth would be a better size for me.

I know you're not keen on the talent, but have you found it helps you track better in games? My old pad was an allsop blue raindrop for years which I liked, but I much prefer the steelseries qck as it's so thin at 2mm and the surface feels really nice and soft. I think you'd like the qck. My playing has improved a lot with it. But I'm still curious about the puretrak.

No I don't think it's helped me at all tracking in games, in fact I think I've gotten slightly worse since switching from my Fry's Supermat (which I left behind on vacation sadly). However that's really a personal preference thing, everyone will have different results. It doesn't make the mouse any more accurate compared to other cloth mats if that's what you're thinking... I think I may benefit more from a SS QCK+ or something similar (never tried the + sadly) just because I enjoy the feel of true cloth mouse pads. I also don't care much for the thickness of the Talent, somehow my mouse cable (as stupid and weird as that sounds) keeps getting caught on the edge...

There's a touching cloth thread on the forum if you look around a bit, a user called IanM did a really great comparison with several mouse pads including the Talent and a lot of 'off names'. I suggest you take a look at that, unfortunately he hasn't tried the SS QCK either, but he's gotten his hands on a enough different mouse pads out there to give you a good general idea of how the Talent feels and how some of the others compare. If I'm not mistaken he wasn't too impressed by the Talent either.
 
Cool, that's actually good news for me because it saves me the hassle and extra expense of botthering to import a puretrak. I'll check out that thread you mentioned, thanks.

I'd not heard of the ozone ground level mats before you mentioned them, so I checked them out at my favourite etailer and they have a few. Also 2mm thick, so they might be rather like the qck.

Just when I thought I had settled on the Puretrak Talent, I'm now considering a Corepad instead. Ugh. I'll likely change my mind again before this is over... :rolleyes:
 
Unfortunately getting the right mouse pad might be trial and error for some. You think you might want something and once you have it you find out it's not all that great (Talent for me). But yeah I look for something with a natural cloth feel, thickness no larger than 4mm (preferably 2-3mm) and large enough so I can rest my arm on top of it, that's where the Ozone Ground Level comes a bit short for me...

This is the mat for you then, you'll love it. It's the really big version of mine, and you'll not want to stop caressing the surface with your hand. It feels nice, kind of like those chino trousers that feel smooth and velvety. :p

Ah well, after saying I wouldn't bother, in the end I bought one. :p
It was cheaper than I thought by buying directly from Puretrak in the US than more locally in europe. Only $34 = £21 including shipping. That's pretty damn good for shipping to England. ETA about 3 weeks. :cool: I'll let you know what I think of it.
