I am currently in the market for a new laptop Smaller the better.

I want it mainly for school, but I would also like to do some moderate gaming (CSS and possibly BF2). I was looking at the Dells, mainly because I have a Dell Axim X51v and I think it would be sexy to have a Dell laptop too. Im thinking in the range of $1500 to $2000
I don't know a lot about laptops, or what is important when purchasing them.

Any suggestions??

IMO, if you're thinking of Dell, the 700m is a sweet notebook for its size and price, my fiance has one and its great, however for your kind of gaming, it would not work, lol.
I was also looking for the sweetest deal on the best priced notebook for gaming, and ended up going with the Dell e1705 w/ 7800 go, 2ghz duo and 1gb ram cause of the great coupon i got last week (1/3 off and additional 12% for epp)

If you want to be able to play games like CSS i think the only option is a notbook with 6600, x1400 or better vid card, anything else would struggle and make gaming undesirable.

Just my 2¢
Good luck to ya!

I agree with everything you said. Also, if you want to play BF2, you will benefit from having 1.5-2GB of RAM, which should be bought somewhere like Newegg, as Dell charges way too much for their memory upgrades.

Whats your opinion on..

ibuypower.com's AMD models vs. Dell.ca's Latitude Core Duos??

ibuypower is obiviously chealer.. but Im told Dell business line are very well built

Gaming isn't that important to me, I'm planning on upgrading my desktop anyways.

My Desktop:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1 gig ram
80 gb harddrive
256mb ATI Radeon X800

What suggestions do you have for my desktop as well? I want to play the newest games.
