Im thinking of geting water cooling for my pc and ive been looking around for a pump for the system but they are quite expensvie like £45 would an aquarium pump work as they are much cheaper

An Eheim 1046, 1048, or 1250 are ideal for your intended use, they are ultra reliable, dead silent, and rather inexpensive.
 
In general yes, the Eheim pumps are still widely used and considered the "best" of that class. Be careful you don't want a submersible that must be underwater. A good high quality aquarium pump will certainly do the job (and have done so for years before the specialty pumps came about).
