So yesterday I ordered some watercooling parts :)

I ordered a Danger Den TDX Block, Swiftech MCR220 (Dual 120mm), and some Tubing.

It looks like I'll have to go to the hardware store and buy some 3/8" NPT to 1/2" Barbs for the radiator, and some hose clamps. I also need to make a run to the store for a pair of 120mm fans.

Now, for a pump, I have yet to go, but it looks like my best bet for an inexpensive pump is to go over to Big Al's Aquarium, and buy one of those Pentair Aquatics pumps.

Does anyone else have a good source in Canada to buy a decent pump, I'm looking to spend about $50 CAD, I'm jobless and need to spend cheap.
 
I believe the pump you want to get from Big Al's is a Submersible, which would not be ideal for a WC loop, unless you kept in in a bucket of water out side the case.

Go back to the DD site and check out the DD D5 12v pump.
 
If he's wanting to get the Quiet One 1200 it's either submersable or inline.
 
Yes, I was looking for the Quiet One 1200, and I want a place that isn't going to charge $500 for duty, I need it in Canada, like I said in the first post. And it has to be around $50 CAD, not $75 USD, damn, at least read the post first.
 
big al's is almost certainly the best you're going to find new and domestic.

a good site for fans, that i'm not sure if i put up in youre previous thread, is www.adpmods.com for some yate loon 120mm fans. cheap and quite, still move enough air for good cooling, undervolt well.
 
I have an 80mm Yate Loon fan that came with my case, it's loud as hell at 12v, but at 5v it is very quiet, and still moves enough air to make me happy. Although the fan is rebranded with Chieftec's name because it's a Chieftec Matrix case.

I'll have to keep ADP Mods in my bookmarks, that is by far the cheapest I have seen for a nice quiet 120mm fan.
 
The Laing D5 has good flow rates and plenty head pressure which is always good for high-flow danger den blocks. The TDX uses nozzles to make the flow more turbulent around the centre of the block - where the CPU die is.

Alternatively, there's the Laing DDC (Alphacool have released a revision to the series with increased flow.) I'd recommend the plexi top for it to cut out the right angle in the pump and has a positive impact on flow (see the linked thread above) ;)

there's no way that the 1200 is going to get the most out of the block that he is planning on getting, but it's really cheap.

i just wish that bigfoot had had a few swiftech MCW6000s left on clearance when he first started pricing and purchasing. one of those would have been just fine for use with this pump.

i hope that you at least understand the frustration, even if you don't appreciate the comment, when someone suggests a pump that retails for more than $100CDN, when you're stated budget is around $50 CDN.

I have the Block, Rad, and Tubing ordered, should be here around Tuesday/Wednesday.

I know the feeling, I'm 15. Not complaining though - onto my second watercooled rig already ;)

Have you considered a Hydor L30 or an Eheim 1250. The Hydor is cheaper and his almost identical flow rates the the Eheim, all depends what's avaliable. Only downside is they're mains powered, if you choose not to keep it running all the time you can always buy or make a relay. I've made a guide here :)

heheh.....crown royal was on special this week...... $6 off puts it at the same price as my regular vodka or budget rye whiskies.......it's nice to enjoy the good stuff on the rocks every once in a while. :D

it's pretty bad: hydors are WAY overpriced over here, and eheims are just plain hard to find at regular pet stores.

job hunting can be a bit of a pain.......if all goes "well" i'm going to be tromping around in the arctic mapping and prospecting this summer.......i know that the bugs are going to get their fill at my expense, i just hope the bears and wolves don't!

a co-op student in my dept got killed by wolves last semester......guy went wandering outside of the compound at dusk.

i'd be tenting it the whole time..........nothing for it but to be the meanest mofo around, in that situation.......and i'm not likely to be allowed firearms..... :eek:
 
I plan on just plugging my pump into the power bar... I don't really turn my computer off unless I'm changing stuff, like RAM, or cleaning up my wiring.
