i need a relay for my eheim 1250, and i am totally lost...

im looking at the radioshack website, here, can anyone tell me which one of these relays i want to get for my pump?

I'd go for Cat # 275-217 since it's rated 125VAC, which is what the Eheim 1250 uses....

It needs minimum 96 volts AC to throw tho- not sure if that's what you're looking for or not...

No, the one I linked to is 12V DC. Basically, you need 12V to actuate the coil and close (or open) the switch. The computer supplies the 12v when turned on, so it closes the switch and turns on the pump.
This is what I sent in the email:

Basically, what you are going to do is strip a section of your pump's
cable, and take out one of the wires (not the ground). Cut it and
strip both exposed ends. Solder one of these ends to the NO(normally
open) and the other to the COM(common). I'd go ahead and lay them
all the way across the relay (the same connections are on both sides
for powering 2 things, but if you bridge them you can decrease the
possibility of overloading the relay and ripping off the terminals).
Then, all you need to do is connect one terminal of the COIL to a 12v
rail, and the other to a ground. The ordering doesnt matter on the
COIL. You can use the red and black parts of an old fan's cable and
connect it via a fan header or you can take a molex plug and hook one
end to the yellow and the other to the adjacent black. Thats it!

Ah, ok. That's what threw me- I was thinking of the contact rating (in this case, that would carry the load of the pump) rather than the coil rating.

Thanks for the info!
