My water-cooling setup is consisted of 1/4" tubing, and I like it that way for now. I'm more for how quiet it is over overclocking. My pump went out and I can't find a 1/4" pump anywhere. So what i was thinking is getting a 3/8" pump (Danger Den DDC-12V) and just using 3/8" to 1/4" fittings to the rest of the system. Will the pump be ok for this? Would this be too much resistance?
 
Too much resistance? I don't think it would be. You could also just go 3/8" tubing all around and replace the fittings on your waterblocks. It wouldn't make it any noisier.
 
I'm refrain for telling you to dump that 1/4" crap and get some real tubing ... oops
 
man, be careful. i have a new ddc and i do not like it very much.

i find the ddc to be very loud in comparison to something like an eheim. if i were you, i would just get the eheim 1048.

I haven't heard the DDC, but I do agree my 1048 is very quiet.

does the 1048 have changeable heads? other wise i would have to go 1/2" > 3/8">1/4"

would love to. i would have to get a new radiator, heat sink. graffix cooler

cost me to much to do that :(
 
It is supposed to be a bit noisier than the 1048 but you also gain some performance benefits. Hopefully the sound level change isnt too much.
 
i dont see why it wouldnt work, you wont be getting the bes performance out of your pump, but the smaller tubing wouldnt put enough restriction on the pump for it to overwork itself to death.
 
It should do quite well seeing the head that it can produce... I have some video of taking my DDC pump and having it flow through a tiny 1/8" hose barb producing a stream that went 10ft (but could have easly gone 25ft) across my bathroom. It was still a decent flow as well, beeing a little less then 1 g/min from testing.

Thus, it should love 1/4"/
 
doh, dropped radiator last night broke the barb off, looks like i will be going 3/8" :(

I highly reccomend the Criticool powerplant II. It works flawlessly foy me(Though there's not that much that can go wrong with a pump relay).

nice! right now i use a power supply tester to run the pump
