Ok, I traded for this pump:

AquaXtreme 50Z-DC12-T Mag Drive Inline Pump w/ PnC 1/2" Quick-Connects
It's on Cooltechinca's site

I was under the impression it was a 1/2" ID tubing pump, but it was actually a 1/2" OD tubing, so it fits 3/8" tubing. I have some spare tubing in that size, but the rest of my system is 1/2". Can I just get a 3/8" to 1/2" ID barb adapter, and not suffer any major peformance loss?

So you're saying that the barbs on the pump are made to fit 3/8" ID tubing? That's pretty misleading then cause this is the quote from their site "comes with Barbed Fittings for 1/2"ID Tube". If what you are saying is true, I'd send that thing back. If you put a 3/8" fitting anywhere in your loop, you've essentially turned you whole system into a 3/8" system, and it will most likely hurt performance.

I just found that I could force the quick connect things off, and screw on 1/2" regular barbs. This should be ok right?

Yes, as long as they don't leak.
