Well, my not even one month old DDC-12V pump died today. I noticed it wasn't working when my comptuer started closing things and giving me errors, so I opened up MBM 5 and I had 71*C on my CPU temp. Naturally I shut the comp down as fast as I could. Then I looked at all my connections, everything looked find, but just incase I decided to switch which plug the molex was connected into in something else.

Alas, still no movement from the pump. Blah, I don't want to wait 3 weeks while a new pump is shipped out to me, thats just retarded. Any suggestions?

down a stiff drink?

curse the designer?

howl at the moon?

hit up a local aquarium store for something better prooven? :)

Funny you should mention local aquariam store, lol. We have none where I live, it sucks.

I got an update on this pump though. I seemed to fix it today. All I did was take it apart, clean it, then put it back together and its running perfect again for some odd reason.

I am not entirely sure. See, when I started my setup, I had all water, but then the water looked really bland, so I added a little bit of methyl alcohol and some food coloring. Not a lot of methyl alcohol, just some.

have you tried hitting it?

seriously, this is more common for new pumps than ones that have been running but somone was complaining that their brand new pump didn't work... someone suggested to hit it around a little bit and it whirred to life

hope you can get it working... 12v pumps aren't cheap :(

Ditch the methyl alchahol. Here's a snippet about it,

"Oxidation gives formaldehyde, formic acid and carbonic acid."

Just go with distilled water and 10% antifreeze. If you want some color, Cool-Cases-USA sells colored mixtures for w/c.

and hot copper acts as a catylist for that particular reaction.

sorry about you not having an aquarium store near by, i'm kind of spoiled with a big al's retail store near my university, and not TOO far from home.

Yeah, I have a HUGE saltwater fish shop just down the road from me. All the tubing, pumps, temp probes, doodads and niknaks a w/c person needs.... :D

Wait, isn't Methyl Alcohol antifreeze??? Ooookaaayyy... Cause I used the anti-freeze we had in the garage and it said methyl alcohol on it...

Ok, so this might exlpain why my copper looks ugly on the inside, lol. More cleaning to do when I decide I want to clean these blocks I guess =\. I hope my schools sandblaster is sufficient to clean them, lol.
