Pump noise

I just installed a loop and Im in the process of leaktesting but i have a few questions:

The pump is near silent when its not touching the aluminum base of my case but when it is there is an annoying vibration sound even with the neoprene pad that attaches it to the case. Any suggestions?

Also should I leaktest overnight when im sleeping?

Could it be one of your case panels? Sometimes if they don't fit right they can rattle or hum.

What's the setup? What kind of pump, case, etc.?
 
Could be air in the pump, my DDC with air in it only makes noise in some positions. I would be hesitant about leak testing overnight unless it has been runing most of the day with no leaks, you could end up with a damaged pump in the morning after it pumps itself dry.
 
Yeah, dont leaktest overnight unless your pump is the only thing on... I doubt you'd run your pump dry if it's been going all day (personally, I've yet to need to leaktest for more than about 10 seconds :p).

Um, as for the noise... It's still audible if all your panels are off? Hmm, how is it attached to your case? Is it just sitting there?
 
The included neoprene pad is usually not enough, especially if the pad isn't larger than the pump's base. From my experience, bubblewrap wors very well, and if you want something very vibration-absorbant, Petra's has some "Gel-Stuff" that looks to work very well - it's sold out ATM.
 
Aluminium cases are usually pretty thin... and while they transfer heat better than steel, my experience has been that they don't dampen vibrations very well... and are generally more "noisy". I mounted my pump on two layers of foam (about 2" total), and also the side as an extra buffer between the pump and case. Very quiet now.

Turn the pump down to 4. With that kit and the Apogee block you don't have much restriction, full speed on the pump is largely a waste.
 
at pretty much everything except for the lowest setting theres sound from vibration
 
Go to Wal-Mart, spend $10 on a bit of sound dampening material and put a layer on the underside of the case in a strip from front to rear. Use a strip about 4" wide under where the pump is mounted.

That gel stuff looks pretty cool and its cheap. If only it was instock

i have found the same thing... tried everything to quite my DCC but after 2 days when all air was gone it was silent :)

and I have a t-balancer I got to quite my pump that I now use on my 3 120 deltas to make them silent...

and I have a petras gel pad.. oh and get some blue petosine while you are shopping at petras its cheap the right size, works great and a cool color :)

I bought some Velcro and attached a piece to the bottom of the block, and the corresponding piece to the case. No pump noise.
