Ok so i used to love my bigwater se kit.. it was cheap and worked ok.. i dont overclock...
gaming rig in sig..

well i just went down to go do a quck nuketown 24x7 headquarters and my computer was off...

i turned it on.. went upstairs.. came back down and it was off again...
i sat in my chair and sighed pretty hard... but when i did... i had that...

OH NO DREADDED BURNT SMELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sooooo took computer upstairs....
i have a spare pump and put it in.... turned computer on and the pump chatters away... but was working... but needs to be replaced.....

now computer is still broken... im gonna say mobo fried...
i dont feel like taking it apart right now....

but im going to test memory, cpu, video cards in my other computers.....and be all i have a feeling mobo... i did get a 7F on the mobo lcd... havent looked it up yet...

so it is a xfx force mobo hopefully under lifetime warranty.... water cool void it? hopefully not....

so lets say it is the mobo is shot and xfx replaces it.... great...

would you recommend me to go with WC again? if so what pump for efficiency and not expensive... also if you say no forget that just go air.... what air unit would you recommend?

now lets say mobo shot and xfx says im shot... what would be a good cheaper unit for the non OCer for 4 dimms, q6600, dual xfx 9600's?

thanks guys i know you guys will set me in the right direction...

just nab a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ and a couple good 120mm fans, push/pull, and use your air conditioner

well more to it... i see what happened now..

the seal on the waterblock went.. and dripped water onto the top video card.. to which let the water go into the pci express slot...

i removed the top video card and the computer turns on... it gripes that it detects a video card in slot 2 or 3... please use slot 1 for non sli functions..

so the computer kinda works...

sucky thing is i just threw out a waterblock figuring ill never use it... :(

so get an air cooler gotcha...

but now what i need to know is how to clean the pci express slot...

can rubbing alcohol be used or do i need to use something else? seems that the slot is all gummy... maybe the waterblock seal?

or should i just take it out and send to xfx? or just replace the mobo?
cuz i know xfx will know if it was water damage.. so not sure if they void the lifetime for that....

the gummyness is from the coolant in the water system that fried in the slot. One of the best solvents to use on tough to clean computer pcb's is acetone as it doesn't harm the circuit board. Try not to get it on plastic too much, it can melt it. If you use alcohol I recommend 99%, not the 70% most people have around the house. I would just send it in to XFX and see if they will honor the warranty, worst case you upgrade your motherboard right?

well i will see what i can do.. i dont like the fried smell i got.. ill give a try to cleanup the slot... if not.. oh well guess ill need a new mobo... and will order air cooler then...

We are sorry to hear you are having problems. This product is no longer under warranty. Motherboards carry a two year from purchase date warranty which has expired according to your information. There are no service options for this product. Let us know if you ever need anything else. Thank you. Kevin

that will work with an lga775?

on their site it says
Hyper 212 Plus is Cooler Master's first cooler to be equipped with an all-in-one mounting solution that includes LGA 1156 and 1366.

They work with a lot more than that. you might need to buy a 775 mounting kit separate.
