Pump controller?

Can anyone suggest a good pump controller to slow down an EK 4.0 pump? This pump has a factory 3 pin on it and I wont use a motherboard fan header to controll it. I just dont want the mobo dealing with the added stress of reducing the amps to this pump.

The pump is rated 18w @ 1.8A

Just get a fan controller. It's the same thing as long as it can handle the wattage.

The issue I see is that some fan controllers can handle up to 20 or 30 watts, but only at 1amp. When you reduce the voltage to a pump through a fan controller, many controllers fail prematurely since the resisters are dealing with much higher amps/watts than a fan draws.

i just didnt know if there was a product out there that was specialized for pump controll, but it looks like I will just have to get a fan controller with designated pump control.

To anyone else reading this thread with this same question, make sure you read the specs in detail on a controller as not just any fan controller will work. Most are rated at 4w per channel and will not work for most pumps. You have to get a beefier 30w version to have enough headroom and they MUST have adequate caps and heatsinks.

I read a review on that controller a while back and the reviewer said that it actually got WAY too hot when at 10v.

And yes, A x V = W

1.5A x 12v = 18w, Im just worried that the fan controllers designed for fans that have only a 1amp max will burn up when controlling a pump.

I think Im just going to get this..

Its pricey, but I wanted a nice fan controller anyway and it appears that its the most well rounded solution for me.
