I just recently got into WC and i built my first loop last month.
Well i decided to redo the loop, i had alot of extra tubing.
so i cut off about a foot of tubing from my loop, and as i was bleeding it with my T line, it started doing something odd.

Right now there is very little air in it, some little bubbles that go with the flow.
But it will run for about 5 minutes then shut off, if i give it a love tap, or if i tilt or turn it the right way, it will kick back on for another 5 minutes or so, then stop again.

i currently have a MCP655-B running on it.

Before this it was running that whole month without ever being turned off or having this problem.

I have since taken it apart and made sure nothing was in there, so i'm confused.... any help?
 
I don't have anything connected, just my power supply jumped with a paper clip

i didn't know if this problem was common or if there was a known fix... or if its a known issue with this pump

if the pump runs dry even only for a short time, it gets damaged.May still work for a while, but not for long.Just have a closer look at the impeller about abnormal wearmarks.

Yes, the way the motor bearing works, it stays lubricated via staying wet and it also helps with keeping the bearing from getting hot. Most pumps come with a warning to never run your pump dry as the bearing will begin to seize. By your description, that sounds like what happened.
 
I didn't see any wear on the little white ball, or on any other part.
I just got done throughly cleaning both and refilled my loop, i have it T lined so it takes about 3 hours to get all the air out, i'll report back then.
 
Its been running strong this whole time, and 95% of the bubbles are out.
I don't know what else to try, i'm afraid to do anything to test it in fear of having to take it apart again...

Could it have been a fluke? or could some air have just been trapped in there or something?
 
ok well it ran steady from yesterday till about an hour ago... now the pump won't do anything. at all

Ive tried three power supplys and i can't get it to do anything....

I hate this.
 
well , i guess u already checked the cabling in the pump (loose contacts).U should contact the person u got it from , maybe u can come to some arrengement since the pump seemed to be defect when u got it.Its not normal that a pump fails after such a short time.
