I've got a ghost in the machine.
I recently sold my P4 3.0c system to a good buddy of mine and built myself an AMD64 system.
Specs on the P4:
3.0c @ 3.6 (240 FSB)
Geil 3200 2x512 set to 5:4 (200 FSB) 2.5-4-4-8
Lite-On LDW812s flashed to 832s
P4C800-E Deluxe
Ati-built 9800XT
I had the machine running @ 3.6 since the day I put it together (although I was using better ram at 1:1) My problem now is that I can't get the machine to run stable at his place. I set it up here and stress tested it for 3 days and it was running fine. I took it to his place and hooked it up... no go. It passes Memtest, boots up fine and everything but craps out and resets after about 10 minutes of doing anything. I tried setting all the speeds back to default and running it stock. No go. It still reboots randomly. The temps are running the same as they were for me. It's got a SP-94 and a thermaltake 92mm on it. Temps never get into the mid 40s.
I did find one thing very strange though. To get the overclock I was setting the v-core to 1.5875 in the bios, which was giving an idle core of 1.6-1.625 and load drooped to around 1.56 which was stable. Fine and dandy... But now when I run all the settings at spec cpu-z shows the v-core as idleing around 1.61. Could it be that after running oc'ed for over a year that the chip thinks its v-core is 1.6 now? Would that be causing the issues? Mobo problem? It's really irking the crap out of me.
