I am being asked to research and find a way for people in my office to be able to encrypt their emails using PGP or OpenPGP. I did some Google action and found GnuPG (GPG) and looks like that is something I would like to move towards however I am not sure where to begin. I can't understand if GPG is something I setup on a stand alone server, my current production email server, or is something that is done on the client side alone.

Has anyone ever done anything like this on a system running a Linux email server (Postfix)?

Yep, GnuPG work on the client side and integrates into email clients. Thunderbird uses Enigmail:

If you are using windows, here is a good suite of programs to use. It contains all you need:

You will find plugin's for outlook in the suite. Works with OpenPGP too.

If you are using linux, as this is a kinux forum, use your appropriate package mananger and install GnuPG. Also, there are various GUI key managers for KDE or Gnome.
