Yeah, so yes I am noobie and am on my first build. I am so lost when it comes to wiring my fans, mobo, drives, etc. Anyone know of a great guide that shows all of these things? And yes, It's a very large noobie question, but I want to make sure I am doing it alright. To make it a bit easier here is my components:

Neo2 Plat.
380 Antec True Power PSU
2 120mm fans (excluding psu fans)
6600gt BFG
 
theres no secret to it, just plug the wires from the fan to the PSU.
 
I understand the concept it fairly easy, however I have never had experience with a PSU and the fact of the matter is that I am asking, because each wire has several plugs, up to 4 on some. Just curious if I have to use each plug in or will you not use all on one wired bundle?
 
all connections on a psu can be used but they don't all have to be used. just plug in the connectors that fit to the devices you want to power, you'll be fine
 
The reason there's no guide is because it's so simple, plug in the stuff you need, that's it. The only problem you'll ever have from unplugged molex connectors is a wire mess you'll have to clean up if you care about having a nice tidy case.
 
Alright, again I must ask for clarity. Take for example I grab one tube of wiring. It has close to 4 prongs jutting out from it. Will I connect all 4 prongs to a piece of hardware, or maybe just 1 or 2 prongs? That is what is getting me confused. Also on my PSU, do I have to set my own voltage?
 
I don't see how you can connect anything but all four.... each connector has a unique shape that only lets you insert it the correct way, you can't insert it backwards or upside down, the shape makes it impossible, just use common sense and you'll be fine.
 
Jebus, I'm still confused, remember this is my first time ever doing this stuff. I am looking at a cord, that has 4 prongs, adapters, whatever within it. Will I use all 4 connections or just a few?

Here, I took a quick picture of the cords I am looking at. Sorry for the quality, it was really quick. Now do I have to use all 4 of those outlets/prongs/etc.?

Dude, its not That hard.

There are 4 connectors so that you can install multiple Devices off one Strech of Cable. So instead of making 4 individual set of cables for 4 individual devices, they decided to bundle 4 together. Makes it easier. You don't have to use all 4 if you don't want too. Just plug in one set of the molex connectors, and leave the rest free if you wanted too...
 
Ah...now it's making sense ;) The smaller connector you see, doesn't that go into the back of my floppy? By the way thanks for everyone else and their help, I know it's been a pretty noobish thread, then again that's what I am to pc building

Oh and one quick question, on the two fans I have in my case, there are two connectors for each fan. Am I suppose to use both connectors or just one?

Yes the little one plugs into the floopy. And if the fans have molex connectors, you will have to find their counterparts on the PSU. So if one fan has a male end find the female end, and vice versa.
 
TBH its pretty easy... Im 14, and I did my first build without reading anything. You cant force the connectors, so they only go in one place.
 
Haha, I'm not forcing shit, and kudos to you, child pc prodigy! Anyways my PSU has specific FAN ONLY molex connectors, however it only has two (pinned) where as each fan has two connectors. I am wondering if I will have to connect both connectors from each fan or only need to connect one?
 
The two wires on the fan only connections are 12v and Ground, since fans don't use the 5v line. The wires coming off your fans, most likely, have a red and black wire going to a moles connector, and a yellow wire going to a smaller connector. If that's the case, the black/red get hooked to your power supply and the yellow wire is for fan speed monitoring, which doesn't have to be hooked up to anything for your fans to work.
 
2 pins, 4 pins. Just find the damn counterpart and stick it in. Its truely not that complicated or that scary.
 
First off, stop confusing plugs with pins, it'll make everything a LOT simpler. Each of those little black/white (whatever color they are for you) connectors is a plug, a pin is one of those little things inside the plug that connects the wires. There will be four PINS per regular molex PLUG, now, for the sake of simplicity, take your fan only plugs, and forget they exist, you don't need them. Every fan made either connects to the 3pin headers (plugs) on your motherboard, or onto the 4 pin molexes on your power supply. If it doesn't do those, it's either extremely high end or extremely low end, either of which case I don't recomend you using them. Now, as for the two plugs on the fan, look at them, they're different. The plug from the power supply can only plug into one of them. The other one is to let you plug into another device, like a second fan or a hard drive or whatever. The reason there's so many plugs on a power supply is so that you can run a lot of devices. Not everybody will not be using all the connectors. I personally am running Seven fans, two hard drives, two optical drives, a fan controller, and a pair of cold cathode lights and I use ALL of my power supply plugs. Each person sets up their computer different. Hopefully this will solve all the confusion.
