PSU upgrades for XPC?

Good idea, but I don't want to give up a drive bay. Doesn't shuttle sell upgrade kits/replacement PSU?
 
You know, worst case I suppose I could pull out the mobo and mount it in a spare ATX case I have and just get a regular full-size PSU. That's another issue: do the Shuttle mobo's accept standard inputs from any PSU, or does it have to be a specific type of connector. My worst fear is that it's a proprietary jack. I'm looking at it and it's not the standard sized connector I'm used to like what's on all my other systems.

Shuttles use the standard ATX cable specifications, so your fine however the mobo's are NOT ATX standardized so its a real good chance you may not be able to mount it in another case, hence one of the disadvantages of owning Shuttles.
 
Good to know. I was thinking about this some more and I may just pull the current PSU, mount in a new one and just cut out the current hole to fit in a new one and make a tray to hold it there, sorta half in and half out.
 
Shuttle motherboards use the nano-BTX form factor. If your PC has a removable motherboard tray, probably would not be too hard to make a replacement.

Get a Corsair VX450 or CX400 PSU. Better than the OCZ, and the BFG if it's one of the older models, which IIRC it is.

edit: Don't know about the Shuttle you have, but my SP35P2V2 uses standard ATX connectors.
 
So much for that idea. Anyone know if they make ATX power connector adapters to ATX3 and CN5 connectors, because that's all the mobo accepts. Also, I should have went with the modular PSU. I had no idea the cables on this beast would be so beefy. This thing is gargantuan. Remember, the last time I built a computer PSUs were just starting to become popular with modders. I think Sparkle was the brand dejure in 2005.


I'm really just getting fed up with all the additional costs this thing is running me. For what I've spent in the last month ONLY TRYING UP UPGRADE MY PC INTO A HTPC I could have bought a damn Blu-Ray player AND an Xbox360 and had all of my needs met. $544.18 has been effectively wasted thus far, minus the ~$50 or so for 2GB of PC3200 RAM.
