I had an idea for testing my Antec 550 that I think is going bad, but wanted to bounce a few ideas off the people here to see if this makes sense. I read this page posted by Ice Czar on how to test a power supply and I actually followed the tutorial and my voltages tested fine. However, afterwards I was thinking that a 10W 10 ohm resistor is not going to be enough stress to move the voltages like a true load would. My next thought was to buy an ATX extension cable and make "Y" splits on the 12, 5 and 3.3v wires and test the unit in my actual case with the actual load on the rails. Does this sound like the best method for testing each rail? Am I even getting full load at the ATX connector? Any information would be greatly appreciated...
