I would like to know how big of a PSU I need to run a file server. It will have 7 SATA 320gb HD's / 1-DVD-RW drive/ USB multi-drive/ 6600gtoc AGP/ 4 TV Tuner/2x512mb DDR and a Hardware raid card-5 case fans(120mm) CPU-3.4ghz Northwood S478. I've been using a Antec Truepower 550 watt; but it does seem to be powerful enough. I get the not power connector to the video card intermediately and a I lose the same drive on my array! I tested the drive and its okay. I figured 550w would be enough.

Get a smaller video card (unless you really want to play games on this box) and a slower processor. That 130W (?) Prescott isn't doing you any good.

He said northwood :)

The 550 SHOULD be enough if it's the truepower II. If it's the original, might be time to get something better.

The Antec TP 550W has apeared with 3X different ratings:

+12V@24A, may not be enough,

+12V@30A or +12V@36A is more than enough.

Test your PSU with a DMM.

Mine is the 12v @24A version-decided to buy a Corsair PSU 620 and hopefully this will solve all of my problems!
