PSU Question...

I'm juggling some hardware around between my computers to try and cut down on my noise problem... (And no, watercooling is not an option .)

At any rate, I've got 2 computers to quiet down, my main rig, and an older box currently running as a server. The noise in the older rig is all in the power supply, an old Turbo Cool 300W power supply, so I bought a lovely Zalman 300A-APF to replace it. And I was thinking could I stick this wonderful new PSU in my main box and transfer my enermax whisper PSU into the old box.

Now, my main box is an XP2100+ (palomino core) on a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP with 2 512MB sticks of PC2700 RAM, GF4 Ti4600, a SQ2500 soundcard, a 3com NIC, a 80GB Maxtor 7200rpm drive, and both a DVD drive and a CD burner. My enermax is a 350W supply, and I'm wondering if the Zalman power supply would cut it in that box. (note, I may upgrade the vid card and CPU at some point, and OCing is not out of the question.

Any thoughts?

you're zalman should cut it for now, would be cutting it close though...

anyways, on to the queiting down your computer issue, you didn't mention the most important - read: usually the noisiest part - part of your computers, the heatsinks and the hsf fans.

those can be replaced with queiter solutions normally and cut down on alot of the noise.

Well, in the p3 (the old box), I've got the stock cooler which isn't that bad... The main box is getting a nice Thermaltake SilentBoost. (I know, not the best, but it was a very reasonable price.

edit: Would I see any real benefit swapping the enermax for the zalman in the main box? (Going from a nominal 350W supply down to a nominal 300W supply)
