About a week ago i came home from work and found that my pc wouldn't turn on. After trying to get it to work a couple times I could smell smoke and figured my powersupply had bit the dust. I brought the old pwersupply (antec TP II 550) to frys and had them check if it was definatly dead, which it was. I then bought a new psu(antec Neo He 550w) and installed that into my comp. I started up the Pc it came on fine, i turned it off and started it up again just to make shure everthing was ok. After starting up for a second time the pc shut down after being in windows for about 20 seconds. I started it up a few more times with mixed results, some times it would shut off seconds after turning the pc on, sometimes it would get into windows and shut down amolst immediatly and sometimes it would stay on long enough for me to use it for a couple seconds. I have been checking connections and stuff like that for hours and have not been able to figure out what is wrong. All I really did was take the one psu out and replace it with the other and I dont no whats wrong. i was wondering if when the psu died would it have damaged somthing else that would be causing the pc to act like this.

my current rig is
Antec neo he 550w
3800 x2
7800gt
asus a8n-sli premium
2 gigs of G.Skill ram
250gig hd

Any help or ideas would be great. Im dying without my pc for a week and i really dont wanna have to call someone to check it out

thnx

What revision is your NeoHE? Revisions before A3 (I think) do not work properly with the a8n-sli boards.

It looks like its version 2.2 would what i described most likely be caused by this?

edit the revision is A4 i think. whould there still be probelms with the system even though its A4??

I've heard that it's just Antec Neo PSUs in general that don't get along with the A8N-SLI premium.

Just this week, I had to replace my Neo480 with a TP II 500 because my Neo480 stopped working after almost a year of faithful service. The PSU is still good, it just decided it didn't want to play anymore.

I'm not sure what revision mine is, though. It might be a bit older. It says v. 2.0 on the box.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Is there anything else anyone thinks I could try to get my pc working with the antec neohe?

I just got back from frys, I returned the neohe and bought a tpII 480w and that is working fine so it was definatly the neohe thnx for the help guys.

If it wasn't for that mobo, the NeoHE is a much better PSU :) I recommend you get some good fans to cool your case to enlong your PSUs life. The TPIIs have Fuhjyyu caps that will die within a couple years if you don't have decent temps.
