Well, my computer has been acting funky on boot up's recently......Like it almost starts up, but the case fan's LED's are dim and flickering, and the PSU fan lights do the same thing.......It happens whenever i leave the computer off for a while, or unplug it.....have tried it in different plugs on the power strip, and used a different power strip(at another house)......im thinking this is a PSU problem since after being plugged in(but PC off), for a while I am able to turn it on.

Specs in sig, except I dont have an over clock on atm because the first time this happened it said over clock failed.....it has reoccurred several times more(though w/o over clocking failed warning......

any ideas anyone ?

could definitely be the psu. Do you have the means to test it? Maybe take it to a local shop? Worst case buy a new one and try it out, if no different then return it. I know thats kinda crappy to the retailer but if you have exhausted all other avenues you can claim a mulligan I guess.:)

well a new PSU is my next purchase(Corsair 750 HX[or the 850 if the price difference in 20 bucks or so like it was last i looked])....the OCZ's arnt known for their build quality i got it for my initial build(an AM2 dual core)....maybe i pushed it too far :p who knows but ya thats next.....

could it be in transit something moved(like screw on mobo) causing it to touch my case, and that could cause this ?

sorry, ment to say that i have a OCZ now, am planning a purchase of the Corsair 850(or 750) HX PSU....

this is because i need a modular design, wasnt planning on buying it this soon tho...lol

id say def psu problem, ocz has a few good models and a lot of bad ones. i remember old ocz psu's where bad ass but.. id go with the super efficient enermax (i used to hate enermax)

its an OCZ GameXStream 650W....not sure other than that........does enermax have a nice modular 750W or above for about the price of a corsair of same wattage?

edit: also i could theroretically take the 750 W zaleman modular out of another rig here(my dads) but he needs it on alot, and that would be a pain since i have some nice wiremanagement in there lol

I have the Corsair 650HX modular and I have to say I've been VERY happy with it.

You should look to fix things now, instead of waiting for things to really get ugly. ESPECIALLY, if this is a power supply problem, you could end up with a lot more damage by waiting. A blown power supply can take your entire computer with it..not always, but rarely have I seen a computer 100% escape when this happens.

ive been saving up the money to get an HX PSU for a while(keep having stuff i have to spend it on first, my car needed a new tempurature switch....and so forth.....), hopefully ill have enough soon......ill have to open my case this next week and see if anything is touching anywhere....only reason i think this may have something to do with my problems is that it started after a trip to friends house(for LAN), never saw the issue before that

bingo open that sucka up!;)

ill do that in a day or so(got a few projects/tests this week) and let ya guys know

otherwise, i still intend on replacing my PSU, is the HX 750/850 my best price/performance modular choice?(im looking at doing a hexa core AMD, overclocked, 8 GB OCZ Reaper 1600 DDR3, 2-4 HDD, 1-2 diskdrives, fully water cooling, and 2 5870s.....obviously most of this will take a while till i get but it is over the next year or so)

Sounds good, you really should swing for the HX850 instead of the HX750 though if you're getting all that plus 2 5870's.

would getting the 850 for ~$15 more be worth it ?(i know ive seen newegg have em on sale for a $15 or so difference), or still worth just getting the 750......this is next on my list of to buy stuff(with a new HDD....320GB on an origional WD Caviar aint cuttin it lol)
