Which 420W PSU do you have? Not all 420W PSU's are created equal. Some so-called "420W" PSU's have a surprisingly low maximum +12V capacity (say, 12A to 15A on a single-rail PSU or no more than 10A per +12V rail on a dual-rail PSU).

Fans and lights are NOTHING to a PSU. If you upgraded the video cards and CPU, that'd be another story.

But on a side note, the Raidmax PSU's that come with Raidmax cases are generally crap (unless they're made by Topower.)

i have the raidmax that came with my case

As a rule, most PSU's which come with tower cases are junk. Raidmax (except for those models made by Topower) is regarded as one of the worst brands of PSU's - along with Aspire, Deer, KingWin, L&C and Powmax.

And that Raidmax 420W delivers only 13A on its single +12V rail - much too weak on the +12V for modern systems.

i recently upgraded to 6600 from 5700 but that was 10 days ago and this prob started today when i changed my case it only works now because i unplugged my cd and dvd drives from the psu

I've added info on my previous post above. That Raidmax PSU offers a capacity of only 13A on the single +12V rail - much too weak for any modern system, such as your 3.0 P4 with a 6600 and multiple fans and lights. Your configuration draws more than 13A from the +12V rail when you're just booting into Windows.

how come its been working for like a year even 10 days after my 6600 upgrade until i changed my case and it workss when i unplug my cd and dvd drives...also could having this shitty PSU be damaging my equipment?

I had that RaidMax PSU. It was 420W and came with the case, same thing as you.
On it, I ran:
Pentium 4 3.2Ghz Northwood
6800GT
3 Harddrives - 2 Maxtor (200GB, DM 10) and 1 SeaGate
Nec 3520A
1GB of RAM (2x512)
Zalman Cooler + all the case fans and lights
Floppy
Intel D865PE Mobo

I ran all of this for 2 years (except for the Seagate HD which broke after 1.5 years and then I connected a Lite-On CD Burner because I had the extra power toggle available)

I think PSU is not the problem :p
People are too quick to blame the PSU

DId you properly configure the drives with on being the Slave and one the Master?

Your CD/DVD drives put it over the limit. You've almost certainly changed your PSU at the same time that you've changed your case.

As for the specific Raidmax models made by Topower, only their 470W and 520W units are made by Topower - and those Topower-made Raidmax units are old-spec designs which put a lot of power on the +5V rail but relatively little power on the +12V rail.

no thats the thing i used the same psu from my old case beecause it was the same psu and i saved 10 buc on the new case buyin it w/o the psu

disconnect the case fans and see if you can boot into windows then with all the burners attached in the same config as in your old case. That is the only way to make sure that the PSU is the problem..
