Got a new Antec Earthwatts 500w. This and my old power supply would make a "charging" sound, like a defibrillator on TV, although much quieter, every time you flipped the toggle switch on the PSU. But it goes away right away. I can't remember if this is normal. This is all on a broken system so I'm wondering if that's it. Also sometimes the toggle switch 'arcs', as in i can see quick flash of light in the switch, is this normal?

Also can a bad motherboard/graphics card ruin a PSU?

Any help is appreciated.
