Hi,

I recently purchased a SEASONIC X SERIES 750 WATTS 80 PLUS GOLD from a friend who used it for a month. He sold it to me for half its original price. The unit itself is fine, but one SATA power cable connector is busted (lost its cover) exposing the wires within, and I'm afraid to use it. This isn't really a problem as of yet, because all I need are 2 of those cables at the moment. However, I might have a need for another one in the future.

My question is,

Could I use another SATA power cable from an exact similar unit? Or would you advise against it? I've read from other forums that it's not adviseable to use another modular cable EVEN if it's for the same exact unit, because every one of them is different when it comes out of production. Is this true?

Thanks for the replies.

If they're from the EXACT same unit, they should be the same. I gave a sata cable to a friend from my HX-650 from Corsair (original) because I rebuilt his and needed one, luckily when I built his I picked the same PSU as I was using. He's had no issues at all since.

Of course, you can't take a seasonic cable and use it in a corsair psu even if the plugs are the same..

Use a multimeter/voltmeter and make sure the outputs puts out the correct voltage. i had some old corsiar modular cables. they fit perfect in my newe corsiar psu but the power layouy was differetnt so ifi havent tested it, it would have been bad.
I just reorder the wires on the cable and it worked.

or just replace the sata plug itself.

Within the same line (like X650, X850) should work.

Hello Marbz,

It seems that you have our KM3 version of X-Series. If you can find any cable from the same version, then you will be able to use it with your power supply. Some others Series are compatible too as long as it's flat black cable: Platinum Series (XP2), Fanless Series (FL2), G-Series, Evo Series (AM2 or GM2) or even Titanium Series. If you have any doubt about the cable you found, you can also contact us (PM here or by our form on our website) and we will be glad to assist you to find the right cable for your power supply.

Thank you.
Best Regards,

The X-Series cables are pin compatible across the entire line, this also includes the newer Prime series. You should be good, if you need replacement cables you can always checkout cablemod (http://cablemod.com) too if you want/need individual cables or even would like to pick-up a spare or replace your existing set.

Great PSU man, you've probably got a decent bit of the 7 year warranty left too. Enjoy!

Sorry for the late rep, but I've been busy.

Anyway, thanks for the very helpful response. They totally answered my question.

Hmmm.. Cablemod - that would've made things a lot easier. Unfortunately, I couldn't gain access to it where I'm from. I mean I probably could, but I might end up spending a lot of cash due to customs and shipping.

Thanks again, guys. :)
