I have an older BFG 650W PSU that has been working fine for a while, but recently my computer started to do something odd. When I try to come back from sleep in vista32, my USB keyboard is backlit, and lights up so I know it is getting power. However, the power light on the case continues to flash as if it were still sleeping, and at that point the only way to get it to do anything is to unplug it or flip the PSU switch.

If you press and hold the power button eventually the blinking light fades, as if it were drawing power from a draining capacitor...but even then the only way to get it come back on is to completely cycle the PSU. Even after the switch is flipped off or the computer is completely unplugged, the keyboard / front light will stay on for 10-15 seconds.

I'm pretty sure its not a software issue at this point. Other than waking from sleep the computer runs fine and all voltages check out. Any thoughts?

Sounds like an OS problem.
Install Windows on a spare drive and confirm whether it can work properly and work from there.

There are a whole bunch of compatibility issues with sleep mode in Vista and certain motherboards and hardware configurations. It doesn't sound like a PSU problem to me.

The only reason I'm leaning towards hardware is that this issue began with literally no software changes. I didn't install anything, change any settings...just...funky discharging behavior.

I'd try to see if there is a new bios release for your mobo before replacing PSU.
