I have a very old OCZ StealthXtreme 650W and it has 4 12+V rails with 18 amps (bought this 5 years ago but rarely used it).

It is now powering a GTX 580/i5 2500k and works perfectly.

I have an issue with the 20 pin connector. I can't start the computer without wiggling the 20 pin. All wires look fine (nothing loose)-- and the only way I can turn the computer on (if its loose) is if I push the 20 pin wires back for like 5 seconds then let go. Is there a reason why that works?

You may have the female connectors a bit loose and may need tightening a bit. You could have some cold solder joints on the mother board to the connector.
